What to expect when you come to LEAP

2. Work with you and insurance to schedule an assessment.

3. From there our clinical team designs an individualized treatment plan that will get reviewed and signed by you as the parent/legal guardian. We will set a tentative start date during the treatment review meeting.

4. Once insurance has approved the prior-authorization services can begin!

5. You will be in close communication with both the Director of Operations and Clinical Director through the intake process.

Intake Process

  1. Once we have received a referral for ABA services from a provider (typically a PCP or the diagnosing provider) we will reach out to:

    • Gather additional information/documentation. This includes your child’s comprehensive diagnostic report, insurance information, and the completed intake packet that we send to you.

    • Schedule a tour to view the center and meet our clinicians.

What day one/first week looks like

When you arrive on your first day services, you'll be greeted in our lobby by our Director of Operations, your child’s BCBA, and a dedicated Registered Behavior Technician (RBTs) who work one-on-one with your child to implement their personalized treatment plan. You will sign your child in, help them get adjusted, and check in with the team before they take them back to begin therapy.

During your child’s first few days of ABA therapy, we prioritize creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment where they feel happy, comfortable, and supported. We understand that transition and change can be hard and seek to spend intentional time getting to know your child’s interests, communication style, and helping them adjust to this new environment. Safety is our number one priority followed by regulation as we know that children learn best when they are in a regulated state. It is important to us that your child loves learning. Our goal is to foster trust and nurture positive relationships with each child, spending time understanding their unique needs and continuously adjusting our approach to best support them.

Typical day

Once your child has adjusted to being at LEAP on a regular basis, the focus is on implementing their treatment plan and working towards their goals at their pace. Therapy is child-led, play based, and community centered.

We believe in the inherent brilliance of every child we work with and strive to help them connect with the world around them. In addition to focusing on behavioral goals, we also teach self-advocacy skills, empowering children to speak up for themselves and embrace their identity as autistic individuals.

Furthermore, we are committed to increasing understanding and acceptance of autistic individuals in society, promoting empathy and awareness of how they communicate and interpret the world around them. ABA services will include weekly Family Guidance sessions in order to connect with families on how best to come alongside and support their children through this ABA journey.
